Alliance française de Ballarat's celebrations for 'Le quartorze juillet' (Bastille Day) will now take place on Friday, 28 July, 2023. Please note the change of date!
Our celebration will take the form of a fantastic meal and other activities.
More details about our recognition of Bastille Day can be found in out July newsletter in the Members Only section of this website.
An exhibition of paintings by Alliance française de Ballarat member, Alan Leishman, will open at The Old Butchers Shop Gallery, 112 Seymour Street, Soldiers Hill, on Saturday, 5 August 2-4pm.
The artworks are of England, France and Australia - places which have meant a lot to him.
His French works were painted mainly in and around the small Provençal town of Les Arcs-sur-Argens where he owned a house for 14 years and visited annually.
Alan has always maintained a close relationship with France as his mother was French and he painted his first ever landscape as a child from his grandfather's balcony in Menton.
The exhibition will be open on Saturdays and Sundays 1pm-4pm until August 27.
